How to start

VŠM/CityU faculty, staff, IEP, BSBA and MBA students have free access to databases of articles, e-books, reference information, statistical and financial information and many more valuable sources. Online databases are offered by such famous companies as EBSCO, ProQuest, LexisNexis, etc.

Download  : Instructions for IEP and BSBA students or Instructions for MBA students.

To access online databases you need to :

  1. be a VŠM student, or a member of faculty or staff
  2. be registered for a VŠM/CityU course (if not, use the service for Slovak citizens provided by CVTI SR)
  3. have created your account at  CityU portal

  * Quick access to online databases or to e-books only.  Please do not forget to log out !

If you have already created your account, just log in to the portal using your username and password.

If you are a newly enrolled student, click on the link Create Your Account and follow instructions on the screen. If you receive an error  message, please check your data and status with your admissions advisor.
When you try to login and receive the error "Your User ID and/or Password are invalid" please use the "Change/Forgot Your Password" link next to the Sign In button to change your password and wait 30 MINUTES and then re-log using the new password you have reset.

Important : When creating your account for the first time, select username that is easy to remember. It will be valid during the period of your continuous study at VŠM/City University

After successful login click on the link LIBRARY in the left side menu. Then select link Quick Links > Online Databases. Here you can start searching databases by subject, or by title. Use the first option if you are not familiar with the content of the particular database. If you decide to search databases by title, read the brief description of each database first.

Click the link "Show me how to use database" within database description to view a 3-minute tutorial.

Search techniques may differ, but it is always important to choose the keyword or keywords that represent your topic best. Try to use synonyms if you are not satisfied with the results. Limit the search to articles with full text when available, otherwise your results may contain just abstracts without full text.

Search results can be printed, downloaded or sent via e-mail.
