1. A common assignment in the School of Business & Management courses is to analyze a company and compare it to its competitors or its industry at large. These instructions will help you use the City University Library’s online business databases to find the company and industry information you need.
B. Accessing the City University Library’s online databases
1. Go to the My City U portal < https://my.cityu.edu > and log in with your Username and Password
2. To start with online databases click on the link LIBRARY in the left side menu. Then select Quick Links > Online Databases.

1. Click on the database NetAdvantage
2. Click on the Industries button at the top of the page
3. On the Industry Research page, click on the drop box for Industry Surveys, select your industry, and click on the orange button with the forward arrow.
Note: the most current report will be shown, but older reports (1998-2003) are available. Just click on the Archived Surveys drop box at the top of the page and choose your date.

a. Note: If it is a well known company, you will find many articles written about it. To narrow your focus, add another keyword in the other search boxes (e.g. management, finance, marketing, etc.). You can also limit your search by date range, by full text articles only, and by peer review (scholarly) articles.
