B.    What are SIC & NAICS codes?
1.    The U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system classifies business establishments and is used to provide comparability in statistics about business and economic activity in the United States.  In 1997, as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) was created to replace the SIC system to standardize comparability in statistics in all three NAFTA countries: United States, Canada, and Mexico.  For more information, go to the following website.  http://www.census.gov/epcd/www/naicsdev.htm
2.    NOTE: A business establishment might have different SIC/NAICS codes depending on how each government or research agency classifies it.
